Ceramic Car Coating – Tips on What to Look For!
SAN DIEGO CERAMIC CAR COATINGS – We all want our vehicles to always look as good as they did on the day we bought them. So we tend to wash them on a regular basis and apply a new coat of wax every now and then. But no matter our efforts swirl marks and chips appear on the outside of our cars and dirt and grime start clinging to it just like little kids cling to their mothers’ skirts on the first day at kindergarten. Therefore we need a product which can protect our vehicle from the environmental hazards and make it easier to clean.
Enter The Ceramic Coating
The first time I heard about Ceramic Coating was at a Car Detail in San Diego and the first time I actually applied it to my own vehicle I felt like I had a Car Detail at my house. A Ceramic Coating (or Nano-Ceramic Coating) is a liquid polymer which is applied by hand to a vehicle’s exterior. The coating chemically bonds with the vehicle’s factory paint and creates a protective layer. The bond is permanent or semi-permanent in some cases. What does that mean I hear you ask? Well basically, It means that it does now wash away and does not require repeated application every few months. It should be noted that the Car Ceramic Coating is not a substitute for paint protection film but rather a wax alternative.
The first thing about Auto Detailing that comes to me and in this case specifically the part where I use Ceramic Coating is “What are my benefits from using it, what can it do?” Well in the next paragraphs I am going to tell you what it can and cannot do.
The Benefits of Ceramic Coating
- UV Rays Protection
Whether you live somewhere along the Equator or in the northernmost part of Norway your car will certainly be exposed to the sun UV rays which in turn will lead to oxidization, which makes your vehicle’s paint look faded. A Ceramic Coating will protect your vehicle’s paint and reduce the amount of oxidization.
- Resistance to Chemical Staining
Another danger to your car is the chemical staining caused by acidic contaminants. By creating a protective layer that is chemically resistant a Ceramic Coating keeps some of those contaminants from bonding with your vehicle’s paint and makes it more resistant to things such as staining or etching if the said contaminant is removed in a timely manner.
- Makes Cleaning easier
Ceramic Coating repels water which means that it will slide off your vehicle more easily when you wash it and grime and mud will have a harder time bonding to your vehicle’s paint.
What Ceramic Car Coating Cannot Resolve
Protect Your Vehicle From Scratches or Swirl Marks
Let’s face the facts, Ceramic Coating is not some sort of magical protection that will keep your car’s exterior from absolutely any harm that can come to it. While some small scratches might be repelled by the coating your vehicle will definetely not be resistant to things like parking lot scratches and improper car washing techniques will certainly give your vehicle some swirl marks, coated or not.
Eliminate the Need to Wash Your Car
Having ceramic car coating doesn’t mean you should stop washing your vehicle. It will keep your car looking good with minimal maintenance, not no maintenance whatsoever. You still need to wash your car regularly to maintain its good look, but Ceramic Coating only makes the washing process easier.
In conclusion I would like to say that Ceramic Coating is just like every other product that has its pros and cons but in my opinion and hopefully in yours too after reading this review the pros by far outweigh the cons.
